Welcome to my blog. I'm not really sure if I'll keep up with this, but I have decided to be on the Atkins diet for 1 year (in addition to no caffeine). My goal is to go from my current 212 lbs to 175 lbs by December 31st, 2007. This is my first post, covering the first 3 days of this challenge.
Just a note about myself - I'm a bit of a man of habit. I tend to eat the same things weekly, so significantly changing what I eat will be very challenging in and of itself.
Day 1
Luckily, New Year's Eve has essentially put me into a coma for the better part of the day. For breakfast, I had 4 eggs, bacon, sausage, and some strawberries. Lunch was skipped (again, coma for the win!). Dinner was steak, spinach, and a glass of wine. I had a headache during my waking hours due to the lack of caffeine.

Day 2
Whenever I don't drink caffeine, I tend to have more energy. I also sleep better, think more clearly, and feel more relaxed. Today was not one of those days. For breakfast, I had my first omelet (omlet?). It has sausage and american cheese and was pretty decent. For lunch... a 1/2 lb Fuddruckers burger and a garden salad with ranch. Dinner was some lemon chicken and spinach, which was okay, and a glass of wine. As a side note, whenever I mention wine, I'm referring to red. That white shit? That's just what it is - white shit. It makes me want to jump onto a bed of nails. Oh yea, headache all day today.

Day 3
I slept well last night. Today I feel relaxed and headache-free! I've got a bunch of energy, probably cause I really want some caffeine and can't have any. I'm going to the gym after work and running for 1.5 miles and biking for 20 minutes. For those that don't know (if anyone is actually reading this but me), I had knee surgery 6 weeks ago to repair a medial meniscus tear (torn cartilege). So, I'm doing well with recovery, but do have to watch myself. I desperately want to run 3 or 4 miles.
Breakfast was the same as yesterday - an omelet with sausage and american cheese. Lunch was a low-carb chicken/bacon/ranch wrap from Subway. Dinner will be lemon chicken, broccoli, and cauliflower.
